CASC Receives National Recognition for Student Council

Congratulations are in order for the Cyber Academy of South Carolina (CASC) for its recent academic accomplishment! 

A sister program of the National Honor Society, the National Association of Student Councils (NACA) annually highlights schools across the country for their stellar student leadership. And, for the 2025-2026 school year, CASC was recognized as a 2026 National Council of Excellence (NCOE) school. 

Cyber Academy of South Carolina is one of just 19 schools in South Carolina to receive this prestigious award, and the only virtual learning academy in the state to earn the recognition.  

This great news comes on the heels of the successful 2025 K12 Writing Competition. Four students from CASC received impressive awards in the competition, including two first-place winning entries. 

These achievements are a testament to our mission to promote student expression by encouraging students to soar beyond their schoolwork. 

Lead by a Support System 

Co-sponsored by teachers Ms. Brandi Workman and Mr. Kody Walters, our student council brings together passionate students who want to represent their peers in leadership roles to improve their overall learning experience. 

Whilst in a virtual setting, Ms. Workman believes that the Cyber Academy of South Carolina allows students to communicate effectively and thrive together. “People assume it’s harder to build relationships online, but in many ways, it’s the opposite,” she says. 

For Mr. Walters, what inspires him most as a teacher is seeing his students working together on common goals, even if they live hours apart. “Our students come from all across the state. Seeing them come together, collaborate, and succeed – it’s what makes this work so meaningful,” he reflects.
