Celebrate National Literacy Month with Us – and Your Student!
At Cyber Academy of South Carolina (CASC), we know that strong readers become engaged and strong learners. September is National Literacy Month, and it’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading while helping your child build skills that support every subject.
Below are three easy ways to encourage a love of reading at home:
- Create a Reading Routine
- Our students spend much of their day in a structured online environment, so it helps to carve out intentional time for reading – and not on a screen. A “reading warm-up” in the morning or a story before bed can help students wind down and keep their imaginations engaged.
- Explore Different Formats
- Reading doesn’t always mean a traditional book. Some students love reading an eBook, others prefer audiobooks. Some students enjoy a graphic novel or magazine. By offering a choice to your student, you empower your child to find what sparks their curiosity.
- Read as a Family
- When you read with your child, you show him that reading is for everyone. There are so many fun ways to get your child interested in reading: start a family book club or ask your student to “teach” you something new they’ve learned from the book they are reading.
At CASC, we believe reading opens doors to knowledge, creativity, and confidence. This National Literacy Month let’s celebrate together by turning the page on new adventures!
